Locally owned and operated, the Blackfin Pub has a rich history. It first opened its doors in 1989 at the scenic oceanfront location overlooking Comox Harbour, the Beaufort Mountain Range & the Comox Glacier.
After a fire destroyed the original building it was reconstructed in 1991 and finished in finely crafted cherry wood and Honduras mahogany by local craftsman, Ernie Winstanley, complete with a 75 year old ship’s nautical wheel.
One of the Blackfin’s most interesting accents is the custom Boston-design Whitehall boat, hanging from the ceiling of the pub itself. Whitehall boats were in great demand as water taxis in the days of sail on the waterfront of busy commercial ports, such as New York City in the early 19th century.
In May 2005, present owners, Edd and Lisa Moyes, purchased and refurbished the Blackfin with great attention to detail. The West Coast pub has since become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.
